I was watching that dino show on the Discovery Channel last night and it made me dream of the days I used to want to be a paleontologist living in Utah. I used to draw dinosaurs all the time. Paleontologist Bob Bakker was my hero (I got his autograph as a kid) and I really wanted to be like him. Since I already loved big predators, when I learned of the Utahraptor and read Raptor Red by Bakker, I found a favorite dinosaur.
In this picture, I've got a Utahraptor that has found its way to modern times and to a modern raptor. The raptor is some imaginary form of falcon made to look a little like his dino counterpart. The bg is based off some googled images of Arches National Park in Utah. The coloring of the Utahraptor is based a little off of Raptor Red. It's also based off another predator that has also gone extinct in most of the western US- the grey wolf. Bam, I totally went there.
Anyways, nothing too serious. I just haven't drawn a dinosaur in forever.
