Raptor on Raptor by YamiSnuffles Raptor on Raptor by YamiSnuffles
I was watching that dino show on the Discovery Channel last night and it made me dream of the days I used to want to be a paleontologist living in Utah. I used to draw dinosaurs all the time. Paleontologist Bob Bakker was my hero (I got his autograph as a kid) and I really wanted to be like him. Since I already loved big predators, when I learned of the Utahraptor and read Raptor Red by Bakker, I found a favorite dinosaur.

In this picture, I've got a Utahraptor that has found its way to modern times and to a modern raptor. The raptor is some imaginary form of falcon made to look a little like his dino counterpart. The bg is based off some googled images of Arches National Park in Utah. The coloring of the Utahraptor is based a little off of Raptor Red. It's also based off another predator that has also gone extinct in most of the western US- the grey wolf. Bam, I totally went there.

Anyways, nothing too serious. I just haven't drawn a dinosaur in forever.

While I'm alright with pure science, I have no head for math. Without mathematics, its hard to get into a lot of science fields.

Yeah. When I was a lot younger, he came to speak in my town. I won a drawing from him and I got his autograph. It was really cool.

It's a time paradox, but it's a beautiful one! ^..^ I like your decisions on markings and colors for both of them. It looks completely plausible. That inquisitive falcon doesn't seem to have any sense of fear! That's what is probably surprising this Utahraptor. =) Nice backdrop, too. It really fits in. I love it all.

Mine live in the jungle though.

He he, don't go trying to say hi. They won't need to stalk you even. There's too many traps. And they have bows (the arrows are an inch in diameter, they could stop a rhino.) and huge war hammers. He he, they are vain about thier feathers too.

Actually, one of my alpha raptors has some raptor challenge him, so he beat the poor kid half to death and then...

PLUCKED ALL OF HIS FEATHERS OUT ONE BY ONE SO HE'D LOOK LIKE A FEMALE!!!!!!

ha ha ha. Worst Utahraptor punishment EVER!!!

I just started drawing the raptor, and he ended up with a kinda surprised expression, so I figured I'd roll with it.
